FIC intros Tycoon tablet with Windows 7

Taiwan-based PC maker First International Computer (FIC) earlier this week showed off its Windows 7 Home Premium tablet. Called Tycoon, the 10-inch tablet follows the design philosophy of a netbook and uses a 1.66GHz Intel Atom CPU and 2GB of DDR3 RAM. Users get 120GB of storage space built-in, which weighs two pounds.

FIC points out that despite Windows 7's support of multi-touch inputs, the interface is still optimized for a mouse and keyboard. Also, not all Windows 7 apps work properly on a tablet, so FIC worked on solving these two issues, with technical help from Microsoft.

FIC chose Windows 7 rather than Android or another OS because of the number of apps and business users.

The Tycoon will initially be sold on a limited trial run through Vibo Telecom. Pricing or a release date for the tablet are unknown at this time, though it will be sold locally and overseas with different badges. [via Digitimes]
