TiVo offers on-contract sales for its DVRs

TiVo has once again begun offering its Premiere DVR set-top for free with a two-year contract at $20 per month. A one-year contract will require a payment of $100, while those who wish to purchase the Premiere XL with its larger hard drive and premium remote can do so for $300 with a one-year contract, which was the original price for the TiVo Premiere.

TiVo's $13 per month rate stil exists, though buyers will need to pay the full $300 and $500 amount for the Premiere and Premiere XL hardware, respectively. A lifetime subscription to the service costs $400. After the contracts are up, users are automatically charged the monthly premiums at whatever plan they've signed up with.

The sale is only offered online through TiVo, however, so those going to Best Buy to buy the devices do not benefit from it. [via Engadget]
