LG bounces back to reverse downward trend
The LG Optimus One has reached the 1 million sold milestone according to an announcement made by the Korean company. It has only taken the company 40 days to reach the mark after having gone on sale throughout Europe, the USA, and much of the Asia-Pacific. The device, which runs Android 2.2 (Froyo), has been selling at the rate of about 25,000 units per day since its October launch.
The news is a welcome outcome for LG, which has recently been struggling to hold on to its market share after its profits for the last financial year plunged 99% from $805.6 million to $6.7 million. LG had been criticized for persisting with Windows Mobile devices long after most of its competitors including Samsung and HTC had switched to an Android strategy.
The sales of the Optimus One should continue to remain strong as its availability will soon expand to over 120 carriers and partners worldwide. [via Akhabara News]
