QNAP intros three new home office NAS servers

Server maker QNAP has just introduced the TS-x19P+ lineup of Turbo NAS servers for home office use. The three include the single-drive TS-119P+, two-drive TS-219P+ and four-drive TS-419P+. All share an embedded 1.6GHz Marvell CPU and 512MB of RAM.

They connect using gigabit Ethernet ports for transfer speeds of more than 100MBps. The NAS servers can be easily connected to Macs, Windows PCs and both Linux- and UNIX-based computers. They can be set up to automatically back up files, host website, record home surveillance video from connected cameras, act as UPnP-compliant media servers compatible with the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360, among others, and be file servers for downloads. Portable devices such as iPods, iPhones, iPads and Android-based gadgets can be set up to stream music or video.

QNAP also claims low power consumption of less than 19W for the new servers, which can accommodate 2.5- and 3.5-inch SATA II hard drives with up to 2TB of capacity.

Pricing for the servers hasn't been announced.
