Specs leak ahead of formal introduction

Sony Ericsson's Xperia X12 specifications may have surfaced ahead of the device's official unveiling. The handset will reportedly be based on the latest Android build, v2.3 Gingerbread, when it arrives on the market, while the OS is said to be powered by the same Snapdragon processor utilized for HTC's G2 smartphone, sources have told the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog.

Other specs include a 854x480 capacitive touchscreen measuring 4.2-inches from corner to corner, along with an 8.1-megapixel autofocusing camera capable of recording 720p video at 30fps. Users will reportedly be able to connect the handset to an external display via HDMI, or take advantage of 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Separate rumors suggest the X12 may be on its way in the first quarter of 2011, however Sony Ericsson has yet to formally unveil the device or confirm launch details.
