AT&T adds MiFi 2372 as its first mobile hotspot

updated 01:25 pm EST, Wed November 17, 2010

Novatel MiFi 2372 comes to AT&T

AT&T today became one of the last major US carriers to get a mobile hotspot but countered with a continent first. Its version of the Novatel MiFi 2372 is the first in North America to use the MiFi OS and supports apps and web browser widgets to handle tasks that don't need locally stored software. The pocketable router can reach up to 7.2Mbps on AT&T's network.

The 2372 still has the same GPS support for geolocation and has a microSDHC slot whose storage can be used either for a USB-attached single computer or for apps that can reach the shared storage.

Stores will start carrying the MiFi on November 21 for as little as $50, albeit after a $100 rebate and a two-year data plan.
