GeForce GTX 595 ready, delayed until 2011?

The first dual-chip GeForce 500 graphics card from NVIDIA has been spotted in photos online. The card is said to be the GeForce GTX 595, a high-end, single-board card with two Fermi GPUs. While tech specs are still relatively scarce, it's believed on enet it will have 3GB of total memory split between the two processors.

The image also shows what appear to be three DVI outputs, so it could drive up to three monitors at once, instead of the two monitors current top-range NVIDIA cards support without an SLI setup. As such, the card will require lots of power, so it has room for two eight-pin PCIe connectors.

Based on NVIDIA's history, the 595 is likely to have two cores based on whatever will be the step below the GTX 580, such as a GTX 570 or 575. Combining the two chips gives performance equal to SLI but without needing a separate card.

The reports also say the card isn't likely due out until 2011 despite being nearly ready for release, likely because NVIDIA is waiting to compete directly with AMD's Radeon HD 6990. [via Hexus]
