iPad leads Oprah's favorites, may get sales kick
Oprah Winfrey potentially gave a big kick to Apple's sales with the placement of the iPad at the top of her "Favorite Things" list both for this year and for her soon-to-end TV show. Describing it as her "number one favorite thing ever," she gave out free iPads to everyone in the audience and said "words cannot describe" how she felt about its experience. The hostess is known to have been a fan since launch and both gave out iPads to staff and launched an iPad version of her magazine just last week.
The ranking ousted other devices and services in the top five, including a five-year Netflix subscription, a Sony 3D TV, a matching Sony Blu-ray player, a partnership between Groupon and microloaners Kiva, and Microsoft's Bing search engine.
Although the promos will go away with the end of the series, an Oprah recommendation has become an important help to technology sales in the US. The Amazon Kindle is thought to have owed some of its success to earlier advocacy. In-between promotions such as an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle giveaway earlier his month can likewise give a boost.

But hey...
That Oprah cult..I mean..crowd is a tad scary, but this is a good endorsement nonetheless.
