Nokia C7 and N8 get eco-friendly models

Nokia today detailed special environmentally friendly editions of both the C7 and N8. Both devices come with green apps and details of the phone's ecological footprint but also have improvements on the contents. Either Symbian^3 phone has a more minimal, recyclable box, a single-page guide that saves paper, and a more efficient power charger.

The C7 and N8 were chosen as the two are already more eco-aware than in the past. They respectively use bio-paints and bio-plastics to reduce their impact, and the use of regular AMOLEDs consumes less power than a typical LCD or Samsung's Super AMOLED.

Nokia is shipping the editions through Telefonica and is offering them first in the carrier's home country of Spain. Other countries where the carrier exists will also get the green versions, including O2 in Germany and the UK as well as Movistar in Argentina, Chile and Peru.
