Streams home TV to distant tablets

The promised iPad-native version of SlingPlayer Mobile is now available at the App Store. The title lets people stream and control video from a remote SlingBox-equipped TV. Cable, satellite, IPTV and digital OTA (over the air) broadcasts are supported, as well as media from Apple TVs, home security cameras and DVRs including TiVos.

An iPad receives the content using either a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. Only Solo and Pro-HD SlingBoxes are compatible however, and digital OTA can only be funneled through the Pro-HD in particular. The app is a $30 download, and separate from the previous iPhone app; some differences include superior video quality, an enhanced channel guide, and a less obtrusive control interface.

    OK, but

You'd better hope it works because Sling customer support is terrible. They'll solve your problem, but it will cost you plenty.

the Killer (and appropriately expensive) App

I now have some serious money in this plan. The $30 each iPhone and iPad apps, a Sling Pro HD on a dish 722 and a Sling Loaded dish 922 receiver. You do the math...

That said, I get more looks of amazement from Sling on iPad than any other app.

It is totally cool to watch Live TV, with my home setup intact, anywhere I travel.
