Eee Note reader due in Taiwan this week

ASUS has announced pricing for its 8-inch Eee Note EA800 e-book reader. The device will be launched in Taiwan this week for the equivalent of $228 and uses an LCD touchscreen rather than an e-paper screen. As such, it's more of a computer than a simple e-reader and runs Linux.

The Eee Note otherwise has a two-megapixel camera, a 13.5-hour battery life and Wi-Fi for accessing content. United Daily News group is a content partner for news and entertainment content.

The device will arrive in Hong Kong sometime early in December, with Germany, Italy and Russia before year's end or early in 2011. Customers in China and the US will get a chance to buy the device in the first quarter of the new year. [via ComputerWorld]
