HTC job posting hints at future 3D, E Ink phones

Cellphone make HTC is aiming to bring new screen technology to its handsets, if a job posting made last month and discovered today is any indication. In the description for its ideal candidate for a Display and Camera Engineer, there is mention of experience with familiar AMOLED displays but also E Ink and 3D displays as well. No clues appeared as to which if either screen technique was more likely.

HTC isn't the only phone maker to explore 3D displays in its products, with Sharp showing off a 3D display and Motorola filing a patent for the same.

E-paper displays are more common, with E Ink supplying such screens as far back as 2008 and Seiko showing a wristwatch with the technology built-in. While e-paper screens are efficient, they do not have a backlight and cannot be seen in poor light conditions. If used on HTC phones, they might be used as secondary displays instead.
