Polaroid promises new instant cam for CES
Polaroid today sent out invitations to Electronista and other members of the press to attend a special event at CES in January with a teaser of a device to come. Only referring to it as "grey revealed," it shows a dimmed image of what's likely to be an updated instant camera. Little else is known beyond its possibly combining a digital camera with a printer.
Until it faced a shutdown and was bought up by PLC Holdings, Polaroid had tried the concept of a point-and-shoot with the PoGo, which combined a typical compact camera with an ink-free Zink printer. The object in the teaser shot may be too large to fit this description, however, and may embrace an entirely different concept.
Polaroid has flirted with non-camera items such as media backup but has usually clung to its core business.
