Japanese taxis get free Wi-Fi, PSPs on trial

Japanese provider NTT DoCoMo has just launched a pilot project in its home country that has it outfitting 820 Tokyo cabs with free Wi-Fi for patrons. A smaller number, 100 of the cars, will also have Sony PSPs in the back for the enjoyment of passengers. The cabs can be identified by their red DoCoMo Wi-Fi stickers on the doors.

The service is undergoing testing now, but is expected to launch in earnest starting in March. It's not clear how much it would cost, if anything extra, over regular cab fare. [via Akihabara]
