Sony Ericsson Z1 gets low game test scores

Sony Ericsson's Z1 is currently disappointing in its game benchmarks based on a scoop that has caught it in early testing today. The 1GHz PlayStation phone reaches 24.4 frames per second in Qualcomm's Neocore 3D benchmark, or just half the 55.6 frames per second from a Nexus S. The Engadget insider didn't say whether it was using Android 2.3 or full-speed software.

The device isn't final and is likely to see a major speed up before it ships, but the results suggest Sony Ericsson still has significant optimization left before its rumored March shipping date. What graphics core Sony Ericsson is using may also play a role, since the PowerVR SGX540 in the Nexus S and Galaxy S is considered one of the fastest.
