Comcast offers Extreme package for $105 per month
Cable and phone provider Comcast is rolling out a promotional bundle for its Extreme 105 high-speed Internet service. For a 12-month period in available areas, the 105Mbps package will be priced at $105 per month and be bundled with cable TV. Other packages and combinations will be offered in various markets, but Comcast wouldn't let out any details.
Comcast is offered to more than 25 million homes under the cable provider's Xfinity branding. The new, promotional price is only $5 per month more than Comcast's 50Mbps Extreme 50 service. At launch, the Extreme 105 package cost $200 per month and required a $250 installation. Whether a discount on this is offered with the new promo is unknown. News of the high-speed tier first surfaced back in May.
Verizon offers a 150Mbps FiOS Internet package, while Cablevision's 101Mbps Optimum Online Ultra is priced at between $85 and $104 per month depending on the bundle options. Most such tiers are targeted at the wealthy or multi-user homes but have also potentially been ideal for HD video streaming and other services that don't always work on regular connections.
