Zune HD design takes custom photos, Xbox avatars

Microsoft today opened up its Zune Originals customization to take custom images. Zune HD buyers can either upload a photo of their own or use their Xbox Live avatars in one of several different poses. The customizations are etched in grayscale and, for photos, allow four different etch styles.

Choosing either option adds $25 to the price but can be combined with any color and is available for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities. Microsoft currently sells players with the special engraving starting from $205 for a 16GB edition and moving up to $375 for a 64GB model. Every model comes with a free power adapter to charge away from the PC.
