Freebox to bring TV, phone, Internet, gaming

French ISP provider Free has introduced the Freebox v6 Revolution, a modem that promises to bring with it TV, phone, Internet and gaming capabilities. The device is powered by Intel's Atom CE4100 embedded chip and sports a 250GB hard drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, a Blu-ray drive and web browser. A remote with a built-in gyroscope and a joystick are bundled with the Freebox as well.

Free also plans on bringing out a cellular service in 2012, making it one of the very few providers that offer four services, including fixed and mobile phone lines, Internet and television service. Up to eight wireless handsets can connect to the Freebox.

The Freebox can now be pre-ordered, with monthly service priced at between €60 ($81) and €120 ($162) depending on how long users have been Free subscribers. [via HostedNews]
