Colors shifted to compensate for colorblindness

Security researcher Dan Kaminsky has introduced a mobile app that processes images for users who suffer from red-green colorblindness. The utility, titled DanKam and available for iOS and Android, attempts to overcome the condition by processing images through several color-shifting schemes. Images can be taken in real-time from the device's camera.

The selectable profiles exaggerate certain hues to bring the colors toward the extreme ends of the color spectrum. The methods are said to help users differentiate certain colors that would normally be indistinguishable.

DanKam is now available from the App Store and Android Market for $3. The app is expected to be launched on other platforms in the near future. [via Forbes]
