Super Talent to ship 500GB USB 3.0 drive for $100
Flash memory device maker Super Talent this week introduced a USB 3.0 portable drive, the Storage POD. It has a data capacity of 500GB and has the headroom with the new port to run up to 10 times faster in burst speeds. SuperTalent says its latest can transfer files at up to 90MBps in a more sustained rate and is entirely USB-powered.
The 2.5-inch drive is comparatively light at 200 grams. Like most drives, it remains backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and has an LED indicator light to show activity. The Storage POD will cost $100 when it arrives early in January.
