USB self-powered second monitor

Mobile Monitor Technologies has unveiled its 15.4-inch Field Monitor Pro. As its name implies, it is designed for use by mobile road warriors who need a second monitor when in the field where additional screen real estate is required. The device has been designed principally with accountants in mind in order to assist with field audit work, although it may find other users as well.

The device weighs 4 pounds versus the weight of a conventional flat panel monitor of the same size which would typically weigh up to 10 pounds. To help protect the device on the road, the monitor folds inwards to spare the screen from inadvertent knocks and scratches. To further assist those who need to enter numbers, the monitor also comes equipped with a numerical keypad. It also does not need a power point as it draws its power over a single USB 2.0 connection.

The device will become available in 2011 with pricing details also to follow. [via Everything USB]
