Budget tablet starts at $270
Creative has begun shipping its seven-inch tablet, the ZiiO 7. The device is aimed at budget-conscious consumers, while retaining the company's focus on its X-Fi audio processing and connection with wireless speakers. A new audio codec is claimed to bring improvements to latency and quality when the tablet is playing audio through Bluetooth connections.
Other than the audio features, the ZiiO 7 is built with hardware similar to many other entry-level Android tablets. The 800x480 display uses a resistive touchscreen, rather than the more accurate capacitive panel. Users can also connect an external display via HDMI, with support for 1080p video content.
The ZiiO 7 is now available directly from the company for $270 with 16GB of memory, while the 8GB edition brings the price down to $250. The company has yet to release the ZiiO 10, a larger tablet with a 10-inch, 1024x600 display.
