HTC Incredible HD gets new Verizon 4G leak
Another reveal in what's likely a concerted campaign of photo leaks has backed plans beliefs that the Incredible HD, nicknamed the Mecha, will be Verizon's first 4G smartphone. Providing more detail than an earlier snapshot, the new tip now shows that the 4G status icon says "4G LTE" using Verizon's wording. Gizmodo's tip also better clarifies that the space near the speaker has a camera, not just a sensor.
The Incredible HD is already known to be a Verizon-tailored 4G version of the Desire HD, including its 4.3-inch touchscreen and eight-megapixel camera. It may still have the same second-generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor, but whether or not it will have a rumored HD screen isn't as evident. The photo shows the slightly pixelated look that would be more likely for an 800x480 screen, again like that of the Desire HD.
Most of its upgrades will center around the faster network speeds, which should reach up to 12Mbps in regular conditions along with uploads as high as 5Mbps. The extra bandwidth and lower lag would be key to reliable two-way video chat as well as a possible HD streaming version of the NFL Mobile app.
Verizon is due to have two separate presentations at the CES expo on January 6 and may unveil the Incredible HD at one of those shows, although it has only promised 4G phones sometime before mid-2011 and may not ship the new model immediately.
