Pantech Vega X for Korea gets DDR2 RAM, Froyo
Pantech has introduced a new Android 2.2-powered handset in its home market of Korea, unique in that it offers considerably faster DDR2 RAM. Pantech claims the specs make the phone twice as fast as anything that came before it from the company when it comes to 3D graphics processing; it could rival a PC, the phone maker said. Power efficiency is said to be improved by two- to threefold.
Exactly how much RAM is onboard is unknown at this time, but there is a second-generation 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon onboard as well.
Also called the IM-A710K or IM-A720L, the handset gets a four-inch, 800x480 touchscreen. Other known features include a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 8GB of built-in storage and support for microSDHC cards up to 32GB in capacity. Power comes from a 1,500mAh battery. An integrated NFC antenna lets the handset work for mobile banking and as a pass for mass transit in Korea.
Though prices are unknown, the handset will soon ship in Korea in either black, pink or gold. There is no indication of if or when Pantech will bring the device to the US. [via Akihabara]
