Tablets paired with custom Android apps
(Update with reposted video)One of Acer's upcoming Android tablets has appeared on YouTube in a leaked video, which was briefly pulled and then reposted a short time later. The video appeared to show the company's 10-inch model, which is believed to be powered by NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 platform.
Aside from limited amount of information already known, the latest leak indicates Acer is in the process of developing a number of custom Android apps. An e-reader app, which doubles as a photo utility, seems to utilize a gyroscope sensor for page turns.
Any custom UI and apps are likely still in beta development, as Acer is said to be waiting for Android 3.0, also known as Honeycomb and optimized for tablets, before the device will arrive in the market.
The company is also working on a 4.8-inch smartphone with a 1024x480 display, along with a seven-inch model with a 1280x800 display and dual-core processor. All of the devices are expected to ship sometime in April. [via Engadget]
