HTC promises Incredible HD January 6
HTC today removed virtually all doubts of the timing for the Incredible HD on Thursday as it posted a teaser for a CES introduction. It hinted that it would be the "first to 4G, again" on January 6. While the device is hidden, it's accompanied by past examples of 4G or 4G-like phones from this year, including the Evo 4G from Sprint and the T-Mobile G2.
The timing lines up exactly with Verizon's events at CES, suggesting that it would show up either at Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg's opening keynote or the follow-up, 4G-specific event. It may not necessarily ship at the same time; sources have pointed to the device not reaching stores until after Martin Luther King Day, or past January 17.
When it ships, the Incredible HD will have the same 4.3-inch LCD as the Desire HD but will upgrade from HSPA+ 3G to LTE 4G, which is already known to be getting 9Mbps down and 5Mbps up in real-world speed tests. It may have the same 1GHz second-generation Snapdragon processor and eight-megapixel back camera but roll in a front camera for video chat and live streaming. HTC might still ship it with Android 2.2.
