Rollei shows 3D camera and digital photo frame

Germany's Rollei has just introduced its Powerflex 3D camera and Designline 3D digital photo frame. The former has a five-megapixel sensor and sports a pair of lenses, just like Fujifilm's Real 3D W3. On the back is a 2.8-inch parallax barrier display that will show images in 3D without the need for 3D glasses.

The camera can be connected to 3D TVs to display the photos, though this usually requires the set's own glasses. The camera can record in 720p at 30fps as well, and capture traditional, 2D photos onto microSD memory cards. The camera will ship in January in Europe, priced at the equivalent of $393.

The Designline 3D has a 7-inch screen with an 800x480-pixel resolution. It is bundled with Blaze Video Magic 3.0 software that needs to convert 2D images into 3D images for display. The frame otherwise has integrated speakers and can act as an e-book reader. It has slideshow, preview and zoom display modes, and can operate on its built-in battery for up to three hours. Navigation is either through the included remote control or touch panel. There is no onboard memory, with storage limited to SD and MMC cards.
