Skype OS 6 app for Verizon Curve 3G, 9650 now out

Yet another hint that Verizon will soon release the BlackBerry 6 OS for the Curve 3G 9330 and Bold 9650 comes from Skype, which just announced support for the devices from the carrier with BlackBerry 6. Exactly when the update will arrive remains to be seen, but Skype has assumed that the update is already present. The Skype app is already available, and once OS 6 for the devices is installed, will let users make low-rate calls overseas or free to other Skype users.

BlackBerry 6 will mainly bring with it a new visual interface along with a new WebKit-based browser and social integration that merges Twitter and other features into a single messaging feed.

Skype offers subscriptions for its service, with one such subscription including unlimited calls to landlines in Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey for $7 per month.
