Nintendo 3DS reserve orders start at Gamestop

Gamestop on its own accord has started taking advance orders for the Nintendo 3DS. All its US stores are taking minimum $25 deposits to reserve one of the handhelds ahead of the March ship date. Full launch information, including the release dates and prices, isn't expected until January 19.

Pre-order campaigns aren't known to have started anywhere else in the US.

The reservations come from an anticipated high level of demand for the 3DS. Nintendo's system is the first major revamp of its mobile gaming since the original DS shipped in 2004 with a faster processor, faster graphics and a larger top screen. Japan gets the system first on February 26 for the equivalent of $299, although American pricing may bring it closer to $249. [via NeoGAF]
