Skype posts mobile video call teaser
Skype on Wednesday posted a teaser for its known upcoming mobile video calling feature. The page shows a collection of videos that could only have been taken without using a computer, such as a concert or a snowboard run. None of them focus on the user, however, and it's strongly implied that Skype will allow saving clips and turn it into a live streaming app like Qik or UStream.
Only an update to the iPhone version of Skype has been tipped so far, although Skype could theoretically update its Android app if willing to limit most Android phones to their back cameras. The (now pulled) help document that mentioned the iPhone also had a Verizon logo on it, although this may have been part of a larger help document for all of Skype's mobile clients where Verizon was just one partner among many.
The updated client should be at least unveiled if not made available at Skype's CES event on January 6. iPad support has been mentioned, but the absence of cameras on the current iPad will limit it to one-way video for now.
