Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 now Mac-compatible

updated 09:15 am EST, Tue January 4, 2011

Integrates with iPhoto, iMovie, other Mac software

Logitech announced that its flagship HD Pro Webcam C910 is now fully Mac-compatible. The HD Pro Webcam 910 is plug-and-play ready for Photo Booth, iChat and FaceTime. A free download provides integration with iPhoto and IMovie and enable video calling at HD 720p resolution. The HD Pro Webcam can be used with common video calling clients such as Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, and Gmail Voice and Video Chat.

The HD Pro Webcam C910 claims autofocus up to extreme close-up range (7 cm). The webcam can also take 10-megapixel still photos. Stereo audio is provided with two mics, one on either side of the webcam lens.

As noted when it was introduced last August, the HD Pro Webcam does not stream 1080p video. The same utiilty that allows 720p video calling also enables recording of HD 1080p video and one-button uploading to Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 retails for $100. Software to enable full Mac functionality is available for free at the Logitech website.

All Logitech UVC WebCam are Mac-compatible

Any UVC Webcam is already Mac-compatible. That is true for most of modern and most of new Logitech models. Logitech even used to repackaged some of their high-end models especially for Mac Stores. I guess this is just officially and openly announcing Mac affection -- something Logitech was not so eager to do previously.

I've been using this for months. What part of it is not Mac compatible already?

    does NOT integrate with iMovie

Logitech's definition of "compatible" just means that you can record the video with their own software or photobooth, and then "import" into iMovie. It's by no means actually integrated with even iMovie 11. Major turn off for me because I really hate their recording software.
