Motorola CES event goes live

Motorola is holding its CES 2011 press event tonight, where it's expected to talk about the Droid Xoom tablet as well as the Atrix 4G and other high-end Android devices. Follow along after the break for events as they happen in reverse chronological order.

7:48PM: Motorola Xoom confirmed. In-store first quarter. 10-inch display, NVIDIA Tegra 2, 1280x800 screen, HD capture with 1080p, upgradable to 4G. Accelerometer and gyros. Google Maps 5.0 optimized for the tablet.

Wrapping up. Hands-on time.

7:46PM: Motorola Bionic -- first LTE phone, for Verizon. NVIDIA Tegra 2. 4.3-inch quarter HD display, front and back cameras. QuickOffice and videoconferencing. Due early second quarter.

7:41PM: Cliq 2 up next: a device to manage your social life but also work. 3.7-inch screen, new Blur that lets you manage home and work profiles and social networking backup. Intelligent keyboard. 5-megapixel camera, 1GHz processor. Confirmed for T-Mobile.

Close to 6 million Motoblur subscribers. January 19.

7:37PM: Jeff Bradley on AT&T up: "leader" in smartphones. Reiterates that over 20 Android devices will hit AT&T this year. Both HSPA+ and LTE give users the best possible path to 4G. Too soon for pricing, but it will be "competitive."

Jha: Atrix 4G will be available on Bell Canada and Orange UK.

7:35PM: Showing off the HDMI dock and interface; very slick custom UI. You get a remote control to steer it. Webtop experience; running a full desktop Firefox off of the Atrix 4G. Integrates Flash 10.1 even in the Webtop view. Apps come up in new tabs, and the home screen is separate.

Webtop dock (notebook) is 13mm thick. 8 hours of browsing, more on other tasks.

7:22PM: Bill Ogle, marketing officer takes the stage. Talking about following up the huge stock surge from the split on Tuesday. We think we can make lives simpler, easier and powerful. "Life M Powered" is the new slogan.
