Carrier reiterates "HSPA+42" roll-out plans

Confirming earlier rumors, T-Mobile has announced plans to launch Dell's Streak 7 tablet on the carrier's faster HSPA+ network. The new tablet is one of several Android-based offerings equipped with NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 processor, which runs at 1GHz. The feature set closely matches Samsung's Galaxy Tab, which also integrates a seven-inch display.

Both the Galaxy Tab and Streak 7 offer a very similar experience, though Dell has brought a deeper level of customization to the Android 2.2 interface. The dual-core processor gives the Streak an edge over the Tab when loading websites or flicking through the menus.

During the press conference regarding T-Mobile's "HSPA+42" network, the company ran a demo that showed network speeds averaging around 29Mbps. Running a SpeedTest.net test on the Streak 7 in the same room inside a hotel, however, we only achieved 6.43Mbps download speeds and 1.00Mbps upload speeds.

The Streak 7 appears to be a decent tablet, but underwhelming as another Android 2.2-based cousin to the Galaxy Tab amid a myriad of new tablet launches at CES. Despite the tablet's launch at a T-Mobile press conference, the carrier was still cautious to avoid announcing pricing information.
