Details and photos of Verizon non-phone LTE items

The 10 LTE-aware devices Verizon launched at CES on Thursday included six non-phone devices, including a pair of firsts. Novatel's MiFi 4510L is its first LTE mobile router and makes a direct upgrade in speed that can reach about 5-12Mbps downstream and 2-5Mbps upstream in regular conditions. Like its ancestors, it can share its connection over Wi-Fi with up to five other devices.

The MiFi is being joined by a USB551L modem for those who only need a single connection from a notebook. Novatel didn't say if it would include Mac support, but Novatel has usually supported both for its modems.

Samsung had its own router, so far called just the 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot, with similar speeds and five-person limit as with the MiFi.

The Korean company nonetheless upgraded the Galaxy Tab with its first 4G version. Along with the faster network speeds, it upgrades to the same 1.2GHz Samsung-made processor as in the Infuse 4G. Its cameras have been given a similar lift with a five-megapixel sensor on the back along with the existing 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. Some LTE-specific apps will come preloaded on the Android 2.2 slate at the same time, Samsung said.

HP contributed the remaining share with two notebooks with built-in 4G. An enhanced version of the new Pavilion dm1, the 3010nr, and a similarly upgraded version of the Compaq CQ10, the 688nr, join both add LTE while keeping their hardware performance the same. The 11.6-inch dm1 runs on a new AMD Fusion chip and can get up to 9.5 hours of battery life, while the CQ10 is a typical entry-level 10-inch netbook with a 1.66GHz Atom N455.

The CQ10 and dm1 get 8.5 and 9.5 hours of battery life, respectively, although this is on Wi-Fi and not 4G.

All of the devices should ship sometime within the first half of 2011 and will have their prices set closer to the actual release day.
