HTC's latest Android offerings

Electronista has taken a closer look at HTC's latest Android handsets, the Evo Shift and Inspire 4G. Both devices are not competing among high-end smartphones, though the Inspire 4G offers an improved version of the 1GHz Snapdragon processor common to a number of handsets. The Inspire offers a similar form and build quality to the Desire HD.

The company was unwilling to display the Inspire without the battery removed, as the software has yet to be finalized. We expect the overall experience to be similar to the Desire, but with the added advantage of AT&T's faster HSPA+ data speeds.

The Evo Shift is a downscaled version of the Evo 4G, with a much smaller form and a similar QWERTY slider. While most companies are competing to offer the largest display on an Android device, the Shift's 3.7-inch panel and compact size will be a welcome option for many potential buyers who are not looking for a gigantic smartphone.

The Evo Shift is rumored to be paired with a $150 price tag when tied with a Sprint contract, while the Inspire is expected to be priced at $199 through AT&T with a two-year contract.
