Next iPad rumored arriving in 3-4 weeks

iPad 2 may arrive month after Verizon iPhone

Apple could launch the next iPad in a month's time based on sources' claims late on Friday. Kevin Rose's tips had the tablet arriving in the next "3-4 weeks." February 1 was mentioned as a possibility, although this is less likely given that the earliest Chinese production claims have had it releasing in March.

Both sources concurred on the features, which would give it a higher resolution display, though they disagreed on the resolution. One said it would have a higher resolution but disagreed that it would qualify as a Retina Display-style screen. It would have a higher pixel density but wouldn't go so far as to quadruple the resolution like on the iPhone 4.

An indirect resolution upgrade would be unusual, as Apple has rarely changed resolutions and with the iPhone 4 deliberately chose a resolution that would let apps upscale without any visible effects. Low density has still been one of the complaints about the iPad's display and may increase both to improve the visuals as well as compete against a slew of higher resolution Android tablets, such as the 1280x800 Motorola Xoom.

I'd certainly like to see Apple deliver a crushing

blow to competitors with the iPad 2. It would be nice if the iPad 2 had all the features the rumors are stating while still being able to have 10 hour battery life. It would effectively seal the fate of rival tablet builders and send them back to the drawing board for another six months or so which would give Apple a tremendous lead in the tablet race. I'm doubtful about a USB port but I'd heard that Apple went to corporations and asked them what they needed and if they said they needed a USB port, then Apple would have been wise to oblige if the power requirements were satisfactory. I want to see the iPad 2 get out early and leave no doubt who's the leader in the tablet market.

Intro...perhaps, full release? wait until March

I think showing the product ahead of time would do great damage to the sales of the wannabees. January and February are not exactly good time to push stuff anyway, because people are still recovering from December binge.

Watch out when March rolls around.
