Quirky Perch dock has removable BT speaker

Quirky marked the occasion of CES by bringing out a unique speaker dock sourced partly from its user community. The Perch cradles and charges most smartphones and media players over USB but has a magnetically detachable Bluetooth speaker that can follow its companion device outside of the room. The base has its own mic as well and can act as a speakerphone.

Both halves get their own independent components. The Bluetooth speaker is hinged and can stand freely on its own. Those without a wireless handheld nearby have access to an alarm clock in the base. Quirky didn't say how long the speaker could last on its own battery, but the combined array can stay powered from a wall outlet.

Quirky hasn't pledged a ship date, but pre-orders are already up and ask $180 for a Perch when it ships.
