HP exec talks about upcoming webOS event

A CNBC interview with HP's Personal Systems Group Executive VP has revealed some hints about what can be expected at the planned February 9 event. Todd Bradley confirmed the event will focus on webOS and that a broad public set of announcements can be expected as well. Bradley didn't quite confirm that a tablet will be shown off, but did say HP bought Palm for a strategic reason and webOS was largely the aim.

Bradley also stressed the difference between notebook and desktop PCs, saying HP isn't afraid tablets will cannibalize notebook sales. PCs are great for content creation, while tablets are "phenomenal for content consumption," he said.

From the interview, it seems HP may reveal more of a roadmap of a broader range of webOS-driven devices for the year and beyond, though this remains to be seen. The rumored 10-inch Topaz tablet may make an appearance at the event, however. [via PreCentral]
