Shazam and Spotify collaborate on new feature

Shazam, the app that identifies songs by simply listening to them, and streaming and download music service Spotify, have announced a partnership that will let users quickly access any song they have heard and tagged in Shazam. Called Play in Spotify, the feature will launch Spotify from Shazam and not only return the tagged song but also other tracks from the artist. The feature does require a premium Shazam app on the iPhone, iPod touch and Android devices.

The two say the feature will arrive soon on the free Shazam app. Spotify is a service restricted to certain European countries so far, although the company has had longstanding plans for the US. Mobile use of Spotify needs a monthly subscription but also includes ad-free, higher quality songs.

    Shazam = evil

    Any company that would team up with a nasty company like Shazam is a company I will refuse to do business with.
