Unknown iPad SKUs tip up in Best Buy's system

Three mystery iPad entries show in Best Buy

Best Buy sparked a minor intrigue regarding the next iPad with three unknown SKU entries in its online store. A search for "iPad SKU WiFi" turns up three previously unknown models. None of them are described, but two are priced at $600 while the third costs $700, lining up with the prices of 32GB and 64GB iPads today.

Internal inventory tracking also shows the trio as "unreleased models."

The entries don't necessarily correlate to new models, but they don't currently have any explanation and are redundant in the system. Best Buy could be using them as placeholders for either current or future iPads. Retailers often put SKUs in their systems in advance to prepare for new models, but as Apple rarely if ever gives stores advance details, any intention to use them for future models could be purely speculative.
