Naperville Apple Stole suffers second robbery

Thieves grab $30,000 in computer gear

The Main Place Apple Store in Naperville, Illinois has been robbed for a second time in less than a year. Local reports say that after smashing through the glass front doors, two people proceeded to dump an estimated $30,000 worth of products into containers. The suspects have not yet been caught or identified, as they were wearing gloves and ski masks at the time.

The previous robbery took place in late September, and resulted in about $24,000 worth of goods being stolen. As in the most recent incident -- and others in different cities -- the glass entrance was shattered, suggesting that the design trait leaves most Apple Stores inherently more vulnerable to theft. Notable exceptions include the likes of the Fifth Avenue location in New York City, where people must first descend an elevator or a staircase to get to the show floor.

    Hey, Apple

Dupont Sentryglas. Seriously. Look into it. And a few additional bollards for outdoor entrances.

What is this, the police blotter section of MacNN? Do we need to hear every time there's a break-in at an Apple store? Is there hope that someone reading this will know the perpetrators?

Or maybe it's your plan to instruct other would-be thieves on how best to rip off a store?

And while you're at it, see if they have any of those shiny iPad 2s in the back.
