Samsung Star II made official

Samsung has gone ahead and announced the official successor to its Star S5230 entry-level handset, with the aptly named Star II. Many of the new phone's specs remain the same or are slightly upgraded, including the same 3-inch, 240x400 touchscreen, a 3.2-megapixel and the same Bluetooth functionality. The TouchWiz UI is retained but new are preloaded social networking apps built into the Social Hub, including Facebook, Twitter and IM apps.

A microSD memory card slot provides storage space, and Wi-Fi is built-in. Users can plug in their 3.5mm headphones and listen to the integrated FM radio. A 1,000mAh battery powers the device.

While prices are yet to be announced, the Star II arrives first in Germany next month, followed by other countries in Europe along with South America, the Commonwealth of Independent States, India and the Middle East at later dates. [via UberGizmo]
