LG and Vizio settle LCD TV patent lawsuits

LG and Vizio have settled several patent-infringement disputes in the US and Taiwan regarding flat-panel TV sets. The litigation spanned some two years, though the terms of the settlement weren't revealed. Three cases in front of the International Trade Commission have been dropped as a result.

A new licensing agreement was put in place that resolves all outstanding patent disputes and related actions. A judge in September ruled that Vizio infringed upon a patent owned by LG in the US, and the ITC was scheduled to rule on Wednesday whether to ban sales of some of Vizio's LCD HDTVs. Lawuits were also pending in Texas and Maryland federal courts as well as the Taipei District Court in Taiwan.

A similar dispute between Vizio and Sony was settled back in 2009. [via Bloomberg]
