LG G-Slate allegedly using 3D screen, capture

A rumor from Tuesday has raised the possiblity that the LG G-Slate may have a significant 3D angle. An LG France spokesman claimed Tegra 2-based tablet's 8.9-inch LCD would not only have a glasses-free 3D display but record 3D video as well. It should have an HDMI output, but GPSAndCo didn't learn whether it would have HDMI 1.4 and output 3D to a TV.

It's not certain how accurate the claim would be. The spokesman only mentioned one front and one back camera, which wouldn't be enough for 3D. Current stereoscopic 3D, such as on the Nintendo 3DS, needs two cameras on the same side to stitch together the final image. Recording at this level also requires a large amount of processing power, which the Tegra 2 might handle but could lead to a resolution drop.

As long as the spokesman is accurate, the Android 3.0-running hardware would have multiple capacities and might have a Wi-Fi version for those not committed to 3G. T-Mobile could have the tablet available before the end of March and could cost about $400, although this would probably factor in a T-Mobile subsidy. It may surface with more details at Mobile World Congress in mid-February.
