Notion Ink Adam tablet ships as promised

Despite Notion Ink chief's cruel joke about a delay, the Adam tablet is indeed shipping today, as promised earlier. Rohan Shravan said the FCC and CE pre-orders will leave the factory tomorrow, and delivery statuses on the website will be updated soon. He also addressed an issue that saw arrival dates listed as February, which should now be changed to the last week of February.

February was listed due to pending approval by the FCC, which can never be ideally estimated, he said.

The 10-inch Adam tablet costs $375 for a Wi-Fi version with a standard screen and $550 for a 3G edition with an outdoor-friendly Pixel Qi screen. It will initially use Android 2.2 though the front end will be heavily customized with Eden. Apps have been reworked to use the entire screen. Android 3.0 is expected to arrive at a later, undisclosed date.

It is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 and sports front and back cameras as well as a 1080p-capable HDMI output.
