Motorola Xoom gets February 17 date at Best Buy

The Motorola Xoom's launch date was firmed late Saturday through a slip of new Best Buy launch material. Originally set to arrive Valentine's Day, the Android 3.0 tablet should now hit the large retail chain on February 17. Tight scheduling for the launch was in evidence in the Engadget clue as it would only reach store inventory the day earlier, stopping any of the frequent pre-launch leaks from store staff.

The device as expected should ship with a 32GB microSDHC card.

It's not known if Verizon's own stores will have any lead time on Best Buy, but Verizon regularly launches new hardware on Thursdays. If consistent with earlier rumors of a multi-device release, the HTC Thunderbolt could also be ready on February 17. The Xoom is tentatively expected to cost $800 unsubsidized where the Thunderbolt should cost $250 on a two-year smartphone term.
