MSI releases first Sandy Bridge-powered notebook

MSI has began shipping its first Intel Sandy Bridge-powered gaming notebook in the US, the GT680R. Powered by the new quad 2GHz Core i7, the 15.6-inch notebook has a 1080p display and ships with NVIDIA's 1.5GB GeForce GTX 460M graphics. It comes with an uncharacteristically large 8GB of RAM in place along with 1TB of storage.

Otherwise, the notebook has two USB 3.0 ports, a 720p webcam and an HDMI output. MSI claims a minor audio edge with THX TruStudio PrO-certified speakers from Dynaudio. A 9-cell battery powers the 7.7lb desktop replacement.

The GT680R is priced at $1,650 and is now shipping from at least NewEgg.
