Nikon to show off new cameras on February 9?

Nikon will be holding press conferences in multiple countries on February 9, 2011, a date which also coincides with the opening of the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show in Japan. On this day, a number of new product unveilings are expected from the camera-maker, with the Coolpix P500 expected to be one of them. The point-and-shoot camera should get a 36X zoom, a 12-megapixel, back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a price tag equivalent to $410.

Another, unnamed Coolpix model that should be unveiled at the event is thought to get a 24-100mm equivalent zoom and a fast f1.8 aperture. A successor to the discontinued Nikon D5000 may also be part of the show, though there is no evidence to support this. [via NikonRumors]
