Princeton MyDitto uses USB keys for access, setup

Japanese company Princeton has just introduced a network attached server that's meant to ease set-up and access for the average user. Called MyDitto DE-MD2H2T, the 2TB drive ships with a USB stick that plugs into a PC and then automatically grant access to the content on the NAS, without requiring users to alter settings on every computer. The USB holds a management app that links to the NAS using the encrypted link.

The design is billed as is useful for frequent travelers who wish to access their home-based files from different computers while on the road. As many as 30 USB keys can be tied to each MyDitto NAS, with four supported at the same time.

Other features of the device include two USB 2.0 ports for accessing local files, a gigabit Ethernet port, UPnP/DLNA and iTunes support. An iOS app for remote access from an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad is available as well.

Princeton currently offers the MyDitto DE-MD2H2T with two USB keys in Japan priced at the equivalent of $484, while packs of two additional keys cost $36. [via SlashGear]
