Sprint February 7 meet gets glasses-free 3D phone

Reputed insider tips on Friday night suggested that Sprint may use its February 7 event to unveil a glasses-free 3D phone. While not named, the description matches LG Revolution and would have the same NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, eight megapixel rear camera, a smaller front camera and 1080p movie recording through Android 2.2.

The details aren't confirmed, but they would be supported by the timing and the nature of the gathering. It comes just days before Mobile World Congress, where LG is expected to show the Optimus 3D. Illusionist David Blaine is due as a guest at the Sprint event and could likely be tied into the 'magic' effect of the 3D display.

LG has lately taken a strategy of making a version of its most important Android phones for multiple carriers, such as the Optimus S, T and V editions of the Optimus One. A version of the Revolution could parallel that strategy at the high end and give Sprint a way of countering Verizon's faster LTE speeds with 3D visuals.
